PTFE

PTFE is chemically inert, has a low friction coefficient, functions within a wide temperature range, does not age, and is weather durable. It is also porous, air permeable, extremely strong, hydrophobic, and biocompatible.

Encapsulated

An encapsulated O-Ring is a two-component circular seal with a round cross section. The elastomers impart memory to the seal and are encapsulated in a Teflon jacket. The encapsulation protects the elastomer from hostile environments.Encapsulated O-Rings are manufactured in two grades of Teflon and several elastomer materials with a hollow-core version for specialized needs. The various combinations of these materials cover a full spectrum of operating conditions in virtually every known sealing application…Compared with solid o-rings, Teflon-encapsulated O-Rings function in a broader range of environments.

Polyurethane

Polyurethane is an excellent elastomer with high abrasion resistance characteristics and high tensile strength. Used in high-pressure hydraulic systems where highly stressed parts are subject to wear.

Metrics

Standard metric sizes for O-rings are defined by International Standard ISO 3601-1:2002: Fluid power systems O-rings Part 1: Inside diameters, cross-sections, tolerances and size identification code. That standard groups metric sizes into two series, G and A. The G series is used for general purpose applications and includes a wide range of inside diameters. The A series is used for aerospace applications where tighter tolerances are recommended. The G series has 445 sizes and the the A series has 383 sizes.

Non-Standard

A size that doesn’t fall into the Standard AS568 series or Metric size O-Ring.

Spliced & Vulcanized

Spliced & Vulcanized O-rings are made from extruded cord and formed to the O-ring size needed.
